Scope & Context

Example:
I am importing a large CSV.
Everything is ok with the rows; I click continue.
But unfortunately, on the bottom right corner, an error message in red is displayed.
For example: "Can't connect to profiles. No unique record found with condition: id = dbb1566d-cf28-466c-8d50-995609f7ee5c"

I have to be super fast to retrieve the content or take a screenshot.

Current behavior

Couldn't take a screenshot, but here is a message I managed to copy

Expected behavior

Ideally, I would like to close the error message myself, to take the time to read it and screenshot it if needed.

Snackbar error notifications auto-dismiss after 6s with no variant-specific duration

Error snackbar notifications use the same 6-second auto-dismiss duration as success/info notifications, making it impossible for users to read long error messages during operations like CSV import.

Root Cause

The SnackBar component in packages/twenty-front/src/modules/ui/feedback/snack-bar-manager/components/SnackBar.tsx has a hardcoded default duration of 6000ms (6 seconds) on line 149:

duration = 6000,

This duration applies uniformly to all snackbar variants — success, info, warning, and error. There is no variant-specific duration logic anywhere in the snackbar system.

When errors occur during CSV import (e.g., relation connect failures like "Can't connect to profiles. No unique record found with condition: id = ..."), the error is enqueued via enqueueErrorSnackBar in useOpenObjectRecordsSpreadsheetImportDialog.ts (line 88-90):

No custom duration is passed in the options parameter. The enqueueErrorSnackBar hook in useSnackBar.ts also does not inject any default duration for errors — it simply passes options through to the queue.

Two compounding factors make this worse during CSV import:

1. Multiple errors in rapid succession: During large CSV imports with relation issues, multiple errors can fire quickly. The maxQueue is set to 3 (in snackBarInternalComponentState.ts line 18), and when exceeded, the oldest snackbar is evicted (FIFO) — meaning errors can disappear even faster than 6 seconds if new ones arrive.

2. No close button without explicit onClose prop: While the SnackBar component renders a close button when onClose is provided (line 246-248), this is always provided by the SnackBarProvider. However, the progress animation auto-closes the snackbar regardless. There's a mouse-hover pause mechanism (lines 207-217) that pauses the countdown on hover, but this requires the user to know to hover and react within 6 seconds.

Proximate cause: The SnackBar component uses a single default duration (6000ms) for all notification types, with no differentiation for error messages that typically contain longer, more critical content.

Triggering cause: This is a long-standing design issue, not triggered by a recent change. The last substantive changes to this component were style migrations (Emotion to Linaria). The issue becomes especially noticeable during CSV imports because these operations can generate multiple detailed error messages in quick succession, compounding the short duration with queue eviction.

Suggested Fix

The SnackBar component in packages/twenty-front/src/modules/ui/feedback/snack-bar-manager/components/SnackBar.tsx used a single hardcoded default duration = 6000 (6 seconds) for all snackbar variants. Error and warning messages — which often contain important diagnostic information — disappeared too quickly for users to read.

Changes:

1. Added two constants: SNACK_BAR_DEFAULT_DURATION (6000ms) and SNACK_BAR_ERROR_DURATION (10000ms)
2. Added a defaultDurationByVariant map that assigns the longer duration to Error and Warning variants
3. Changed the duration parameter from a default value (duration = 6000) to optional (duration), and compute resolvedDuration using duration ?? defaultDurationByVariant[variant]

This preserves full backward compatibility:

• Callers that explicitly pass a duration will use their value (unchanged)
• Success/Info/Default snackbars still auto-dismiss at 6 seconds (unchanged)
• Error/Warning snackbars now auto-dismiss at 10 seconds (improved)
• The existing mouse-hover-to-pause behavior continues to work for all variants
