  • For the member organizations, we should include the related CGs as well. Here from WoT CG: https://www.w3.org/groups/cg/wot/participants/
    • However, it should be clearer when showing all organizations that they are in wg or CGs.
    • The list of organizations in ecosystem is really weird. I am not sure how that list is maintained. WG has 20 orgs and CG has 94.

What is the source of the 20 WG orgs?

https://www.w3.org/groups/wg/wot/participants/ here is the list. The same navigation applies to all groups in W3C

Some general comments:

  • there is too much white space if one increases the width
  • Mastodon timeline in the end will likely be overlooked
  • Some visual inconsistencies across pages (different sizes etc). Open "Participate" and afterward "About" and you know what I mean. The cards (according to my opinion) should have same font/look/size

  • The whitespace definitely needs some refining.
  • I ordered it by priority:
    1. What is WoT?
    2. Why join?
    3. Recent activities:
      i. Events and Articles
      ii. Social media
I put social media last because it is really rare that it is put on the home page and it is purpose is just showing activity whereas other sections have more importance.
  • I'll try it out with the cards

So I have refined the script for retrieving the member organizations by their respective groups and some of them are extra compared to the w3c website. I need approval to leave them or remove

So here is my overall opinion:

  • The changes are in the right direction. We should discuss about the content and order, also the #591 separately.
  • Social media in a vertical scroll page needs to be thought differently than the previous page where it was on the right. It can be another column of recent activities.
  • @bobur-khay you have resolved my comment on "upcoming events" but I don't see them here.

Instead of "Upcoming Events" I named it "Latest Events". Now the section has 2 upcoming and 1 past events. I think showing only upcoming ones would make it a little empty. Mb name the title differently?

I think we should highlight upcoming events as much as possible. We get typically new people to the group through such events. They should be directed to registering etc. I think a separate design for upcoming events would be needed.

@danielpeintner have another look, the changes are good to me now

Looks good. Some general comments. Feel free to make those changes (maybe also in a follow-up)

  • participate/working-group/events/ --> I think it is standard convention to right-align dates

  • On the homepage we have a dedicated icon to indicate that a link is opened in a new window/tab ... elsewhere not. Maybe we can try to align it unless we decide to not open new tabs at all grafik

  • We have split CSS on html sites. I think in general it should be preferred to have a single CSS file which all html files use. Leads to a more consistent look and feel

  • Clicking through the navigation shows as first item the header text. All look the same and start at the same position. Unfortunately there is one exception, the homepage where the header is bolder/larger and the padding to the top is different

  • I tried to right align it and noticed that it got harder to follow the cell horizontally on a big screen because the distance between the title and the date increased:
image
  • The original idea behind it was "external link" and it happened to open in a new tab. IMO, we can leave it because it still is an external link

  • The CSS file and design unification is coming in Redesign: design unification #591

I think this is defenitly an huge improvement. Thank you for all the efforts! Some weak points in my pov:
image

The subsection breaks the flow a little bit; I'd probably remove the subtitle. The text in the second paragraph feels redundant with what has been said in the previous sections.

image

Probably, we could add some call-to-action buttons here; "participate" might be one. The text is not capturing the interest of a user enough, but we can improve it later.
